WILMINGTON, NC (WECT)- Chances are if you or your children have every played an organized sport, you have some old jerseys taking up room in a dresser drawer.

Steve and Mary Rassin realized how many extra soccer uniforms they had around the house, while trying to do some spring cleaning.  Their solution to the problem is a website they created calledwww.donateyourjersey.com

The Rassins sent their extra jerseys to a relative serving in Afghanistan.  He gave them out to children there who were thrilled to have them.  Now, the Rassins want to find other communities in need and help redistribute uniforms to kids who will love them again.

"We're looking for soccer jerseys, basketball jerseys, baseball, football," said Steve Rassin.   "Whatever it is, if we can get a bunch of the same color and make a team for somebody, that's what we're looking to do."

The Rassins are hoping that entire teams will donate their uniforms.

Colby Stoner and his dad, Jeff, heard about the idea and got their Cape Fear Soccer team to agree to give up their jerseys at the end of the season.

"We're donating our jerseys, so you can do it too," explained Colby.   "You don't want them anymore, so you can just put them there for children who really want it."

Colby's jersey will end up going to kids in Brazil.

Joe Carr runs a group called Gospel for Brazil and has agreed to transport the soccer team's uniforms on his next trip.
